OUR CULTURE IS WHAT MAKES US TRULY GREAT.
Our work culture and corporate responsibility permeate everything we do at Stout, as defined by our core values: Positive Team Attitude, Accountability, Commitment, Entrepreneurial, Relationship-Focused.
The outstanding people at our firm are not only dedicated to their clients and colleagues, but they are committed to doing more beyond their job titles. Across our offices, our team members regularly give back to their communities, foster diversity and inclusion, and implement sustainable practices. In addition, our experts have put in hours upon hours in pro bono efforts for those who need professional assistance but lack the financial means.
Stout’s people form the foundation of our firm. Every year, our colleagues drive business success and put forth incredible effort to help our clients achieve their goals. Likewise, we strive to ensure that everyone can excel in their roles at Stout and build long-lasting careers.

Diversity & Inclusion
WOMEN'S RESOURCE GROUP
The Women’s Resource Group (WRG) was launched in 2011 with the goal of uniting and empowering Stout's network of talented professional women. The group aims to leverage business and philanthropic opportunities and provide relevant professional-development programs to help women in the workplace achieve success and enhance the overall employee experience at the firm.
WRG's various committees focus on a range of opportunities, including promoting Stout to women outside the organization, internal programming, and recruitment. The group also manages the Stout women's conference, which focuses on networking and relationship building by bringing women professionals together. The conference includes a series of networking workshops, mentoring seminars, and panel presentations.
All of our offices participate in relationship-building and networking among the female professionals at the firm.
WOMEN IN BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP
Each year, Stout awards scholarships to qualified female college students pursuing a business-related career. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to women who embody Stout's core values and ambitions to help them succeed in their pursuit of a business-related career. Sixteen students have received Stout Women in Business Scholarships since the program’s inception in 2013, with a total value of $30,000.
WOMEN IN IP EVENT
Emma Bienias, Managing Director in our Dispute Advisory group, planned the second annual fundraiser for the Chicago Women in IP (ChiWIP) group in 2017. It was a sold-out event with over 140 women in attendance. All proceeds will benefit ChiWIP, whose purpose is to create a place for those who share a common interest in the advancement of women within the field of IP. Emma co-founded the group over two years ago and has already gained over 650 members. The group hosts regularly scheduled events, seminars, knowledge sharing, career resources, leadership opportunities, and much more.
Protecting the environment is important to our firm, and we advance sustainable efforts throughout our offices. We continue to reduce our carbon footprint by investing in virtual meeting platforms to minimize unnecessary travel. We limit our paper usage by distributing the majority of our collateral and materials through digital-only formats. And all of our offices are involved in environmentally sustainable best practices, from LEED-certified buildings to various “green” initiatives.
In addition, we continue to optimize our office spaces through flexible solutions. These “flex” workplaces are designed to promote collaboration among colleagues; optimize space, tools, and resources; and drive stronger business performance. The flex concept is well-suited to meet the myriad needs and work-style preferences of Stout’s professionals today and in the years to come.
